Abandoned Romania

In March 2026 I had the opportunity to take a photography tour to the southern and central areas of Romania. I hadn’t been here for decades and then it was part of a family holiday and really before my interest in photography. This tour though was also something that I had been wanting to explore for sometime - abandoned and derelict buildings. What we were shown in many respects was some amazing structures from abandoned and derelict churches to an abandoned power plant to an abandoned mansion and a derelict bath house. Some of the churches were still just hanging together with beautiful frescos inside, on the walls and ceilings.

In addition to these buildings and structures we passed through some villages and towns that showed life in rural Romania.
